Over the past two decades, various colleges across India have produced thousands of engineers, who are now having an impact on every aspect of the country’s development and growth, as well as its businesses around the world. Here are the top 10 engineering colleges in India for 2022.



1) Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai

Established in 1887, the institute is one of the oldest and most prestigious chemical engineering colleges in the country. 5) National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NITR), Odisha

NITR is a premier Institute of Technical Education and Research under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It was established as Regional Engineering College (REC) in 1960 by the then Government of Odisha to cater to the need of trained technical manpower for Industrial development in the eastern part of the country. The institute has been shifted from its original site at Rourkela to its permanent campus at Jharsuguda about 220 km north-west from Rourkela.


6) National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NITT), Tamil Nadu

This institute is one of the best engineering colleges in India. The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NITT) is a public institute that provides education and research in engineering and technology. It was established by an Act of Parliament and opened on July 4, 1960. Located on the outskirts of Trichy, this institute has eight engineering departments that offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar is the best engineering college in India according to me. One of the reasons why it is the best is because it has a very good placement record and has a great infrastructure too.


8) Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune

Established in 2009, IISER Pune is one of the most prestigious institutes of science education and research. It was granted deemed university status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2013, which enabled it to start awarding its own degrees. IISER Pune conducts research mainly at a graduate level and offers doctoral programs. The institute has six departments: Chemical Sciences and Biotechnology, Earth System Science, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Technology Education.


9) College of Engineering Pune (COEP), Maharashtra

Located on the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra, COEP is one of the premier engineering colleges in India and has a long history of excellence. Founded in 1854, COEP has been ranked by Quacquarelli Symonds as one of the top 20 engineering colleges in Asia and among the best 25 engineering colleges outside China. The college also has a strong research base with more than 200 faculty members engaged at various levels of academic and industrial research.


10) Sri Krishna Sinhgad Institutes of Higher Education, Pune

Sri Krishna Sinhgad Institutes of Higher Education is an engineering and management school located in Pune, Maharashtra. The college was founded by Sri Krishna Sinhgadkar on 1 July 1967. The institute's name is derived from the Maratha General, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses which include computer science, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and telecommunications engineering, chemical engineering and metallurgical engineering.
