The Most Popular Shooting Games in the World
Shooting games are the most popular type of game in the world. Whether it’s third-person shooters, first-person shooters, or sniper games, players of all ages love to pretend they’re soldiers and take down their enemies with an array of weapons in a variety of locations around the globe. In order to identify which shooting games are the most popular, we surveyed over 400 players who had played at least five minutes of online shooter games. We asked them what their favorite shooter game was, and were able to compile this list of the top five shooting games in the world today.
Counter Strike Global Offensive
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by Valve Corporation and Hidden Path Entertainment, and published by Valve. The 4th installment of Counter Strike, this game was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on August 21st, 2012. It received very positive reviews from critics with many praising its gameplay experience as well as its competitive play.
Fortnite Battle Royale
Fortnite is an online game that can be played on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4. Players have to survive against waves of computer-controlled zombies, or battle each other to the death. The game was released as a paid early access title on July 25, 2017 and has been free-to-play since September 26, 2017.
PUBG
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game that has quickly become one of the most popular shooting games in the world. It was developed and published by Bluehole, a subsidiary of Korean publisher Bluehole. The game was released for Microsoft Windows on March 23, 2017 and Xbox One later on December 12, 2017. The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan Greene for other games using either Unreal Engine or ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
Black Ops 4 is set to be released on October 12, 2018. The game has a multitude of features such as multiplayer and campaign mode, but there are also zombies and a battle royale mode. So far the reviews have been fantastic, so it will definitely be an interesting game to watch out for.
